NCLEX-PN
Lymphoma is a cancer of lymphocytes that arise and accumulate in lymph nodes or other lymphoid tissue. Hodgkin lymphoma is defined by Reed-Sternberg cells in an inflammatory background; non-Hodgkin lymphomas include many B-cell, T-cell, and NK-cell diseases with very different behavior and treatment. At the bedside, a persistent painless enlarging node is not the diagnosis but is a pattern that requires follow-up. Tissue biopsy establishes the subtype, while B symptoms, Lugano stage, and PET response help determine prognosis and treatment. For the LPN/LVN, the highest-yield responsibilities are recognizing pressure effects and treatment emergencies, monitoring laboratory and organ changes, using hazardous-drug precautions, and escalating findings promptly within state law, employer policy, and documented competency.
