← NCLEX-PN overviewComputerized adaptive testing (CAT) for US LPN · NCLEX-PN. One item at a time, timed, with pathway min/max counts and no backtracking. NurseNest practice ability estimates and stopping rules are not official board algorithms or outcomes. Region: US (NCLEX-PN (US LPN / LVN)).
Exam-style delivery: one question at a time, timed, with constraints matched to this pathway.
Session setup
- Question range: 85–145 items (adaptive length within this band)
- Time estimate: 5 h
- Time limit: 300 minutes (enforced in-app when timed mode is on)
- Experience: Full-length adaptive session: timer enforced, no return to prior items after submit.
- Navigation: No backtracking after you submit an answer (exam-style).
- Scoring: Results compare your estimated ability to a pathway passing-standard band (not a government or board certificate).
How CAT works
- Each response updates the practice ability estimate used for the next item difficulty.
- Difficulty tracks performance so the session spends precision where you need it.
- Stopping uses pathway min/max plus NurseNest confidence rules — not a published board CAT function.
After the session
In the app you get a report-style breakdown: estimate band, category performance, strengths, focus areas, and links back into lessons, flashcards, and the question bank for weak topics.

Launch the in-app CAT shell (one question at a time, timer, exam controls). You can warm up in the question bank first if you prefer.
