NCLEX-RN
Appendicitis usually begins when the appendix lumen becomes obstructed. Obstruction may be related to fecalith, lymphoid hyperplasia, infection, or other causes. Obstruction leads to mucus buildup, bacterial overgrowth, increased pressure, impaired blood flow, inflammation, ischemia, and possible rupture. For NCLEX-RN (Canada), items rarely announce the topic in the first sentence. Anchor to objective data, trajectory, and the safest next step for the role named in the scenario before incorrect options compete.
