By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: - Describe the major pattern of fetal development during each trimester and place approximate growth measurements in gestational context. - Explain why a percentile, a serial growth trend, and Doppler findings answer different clinical questions. - Distinguish a constitutionally small fetus from suspected fetal growth restriction and distinguish both from a large-for-gestational-age fetus. - Recognize the significance of abnormal umbilical artery Doppler findings, decreased fetal movement, and maternal signs of placental disease. - Prioritize nursing assessment, referral, surveillance, patient teaching, and escalation when fetal growth is concerning.
