Increased Intracranial Pressure matter in PMHNP preparation because they sit at the boundary between routine care and avoidable harm. Increased ICP threatens cerebral perfusion, so learners must recognize subtle neurologic change early, prevent secondary injury, and escalate before herniation signs appear. For Psychiatric-mental health NP readiness, the learner must not memorize a list in isolation. The safer pattern is to ask what patient problem is being treated, what physiologic change is expected, what finding would make the treatment unsafe, and which action fits psychotropic interaction review, symptom differentiation, safety screening, adherence barriers, and referral.
